wHAT OUR PARENTS SAY
This is Joe’s first year with the team at Rainhill United. The team, parents and coaches have supported and welcomed Joe from day one. They are a great bunch, and match days are more like a social event, where everyone gets together and helps out. The team, parents and coaches are competitive but respectful, and the coach, Ryan, is great with the children, parents and referees, which is refreshing to see and be a part of. The rest of the club is supportive, and the coaches are great. Albert Fellowes would be proud of them, certainly Ryan, as he goes over and above the duty of a coach, he gives the family environment, and everyone is welcome.
Nick – Parent of Joe aged 13
As a member of Rainhill United, I feel that my child has gained confidence in his abilities as a player and team member. The coaches treat the children fairly and give everybody opportunities to develop. Safety is also paramount within the team, and the children are looked after well. The team have a good bond and always support each other. As a family, we enjoy being part of Rainhill United as everyone is respectful and we have made many friends through being part of the club.
Jane – Parent of Billy aged 11
Joe has been part of Rainhill United since the academy days. It’s had a real positive impact on his life throughout the years.
Colin – Parent of Joe aged 16
Rainhill United has been brilliant for Mason. He’s just completed his first season with the club and his first as a goalkeeper. They gave him a chance, knowing he was new to the position, and the support from the coaches and the team has been fantastic. He’s felt like part of the squad since his very first training session; it honestly feels like he’s always been part of the team. Seeing his confidence grow week by week has been amazing.
Julie – Parent of Mason aged 13
Having a son who is not a natural mixer in large groups, being a member of a team at RUJFC has been an invaluable education in life skills of resilience, emotional control, patience, and friendship building. Forever grateful.
Emma – Parent of Alex aged 17
Noah absolutely loves this time at Rainhill United under 7s. He has come on leaps and bounds thanks to the dedicated coaches and wider team. We are always kept well informed of everything that parents need to know and always feel part of decisions. Proud to be part of Rainhill United!
Charlotte – Parent of Noah aged 7
My son has been attending Rainhill United for five years. As a parent, I have watched him develop many important life skills and behaviours on and off the field. Playing football and attending training sessions has had a positive impact on his physical, social, and mental well-being. As a parent, I have learnt more about the game than I ever knew, and built relationships with fellow parents and carers. Being part of the team, we are there to support and nurture the team alongside the coaches. I have enjoyed every second, even the soggy, wet and windy days on the sidelines, here’s to many more years.
Emma – Parent of Jack aged 9
Oliver joined Rainhill Crusaders in September 2024, and like anyone coming into a new team, it was a bit daunting for him. But from the very first training session, Chris, Macca, Neil, and all the lads made him feel more than welcome. He joined the Crusaders shy and lacking confidence, but he’s now thriving, not just as a footballer but as a person. The progress he’s made has been incredible, and it’s all thanks to the amazing support and encouragement from everyone at the club.We honestly can’t thank the team enough.
Sarah – Parent of Oliver aged 14
Chris, Macca, and Neil are the best coaches. They support the boys and encourage them to improve when they are feeling the pressure. They give up their spare time to help the boys. We have a great team, from the coaches to the players, to the parents, supporting their children and getting them to matches in all weather. We are all a team together, and I’m very proud to say it. We are like a family, supporting one another. The boys are a great group of lads.

wHAT OUR PLAYERS SAY
I really love playing football with all my teammates at Rainhill United. We all have so much fun together! The coaches are helping me get better at football.
Joseph – Aged 11
I enjoy playing games with my team and during training, i especially like King of The Hill- one or two defenders try to get the ball off you and the last person with the ball wins! I have made lots of friends in the team and we always try our best. We don’t always win but we keep our heads up. There are some really good players and our coaches are good and encourage us with mini objectives during each game to challenge us.
Elijah – Aged 9
I joined RUJFC last year after being involved in another football club. I am enjoying my time with the team because the coaches are very supportive and always willing to listen. The coaches are very approachable and always ready to help. I was able to explore my other abilities in football with the help of the team. The coaches, players and family have a very good relationship which makes it easy for everyone.
Sanraj – Aged 11
The coaches are very supportive and they are very caring. If you need any help the coaches will be there for you. If you want any friends there will always be people in your football team. If you do good in a match you can get Man of the Match, Parents Player or Captain. If you join a team you will learn things in training and then you will grow as a player. You will also get to keep your kits for the rest of your life !
Hugo – Aged 9
I have been playing for Rainhill United since before we were a match-playing team. Starting at Wildcats, I’ve worked my way up over the years, and so has the team. Improving, learning and rising higher together. The friends I’ve made have stuck with me and will keep by my side as we grow. Rainhill United has helped my confidence, supported my competitiveness, and my yearning to win. Assisted by my teammates, my love for football has held my head high. I wouldn’t be who I am today without Rainhill United!!
Martha Aged 13
I love going to football practice, and matches are fun. Rainhill United is great and the best team ever!
Noah – Aged 7
wHAT OUR COACHES SAY
I volunteered to be a coach for my son’s team as I thought it would encourage him to keep going with football and give me a chance to get involved in a sport I love, but never had the opportunity to play. I love working with our team. Our aim is to have fun and give kids the opportunity to play no matter their ability. Watching their improvement and confidence grow is brilliant to see. As a volunteer coach, there are opportunities to do football courses, and the FA has a lot of information to help you get the most out of your coaching experience. The club as a whole is very supportive of volunteers, so there is always someone willing to help or answer questions.
Lynn – Volunteer Coach
I have been involved with coaching at RUJFC for a little over a year and love every bit of it. From the moment I started, I was warmly welcomed by the players and other coaches. I’ve not only developed new skills but thoroughly enjoyed giving something back to the community, even on a wet and windy training session in June! The lads I coach have been amazing and great fun. It’s been wonderful to see them develop over the past year! I know I’d have the support of the committee if I ever needed it. Looking forward to the start of next season !
Victoria – Volunteer Coach
We are a community club with the community at its heart and like most coaches I fell into the role. It has brought me so much joy and I am proud to coach for Rainhill United. We as coaches have a voice within the club and I feel that our opinions matter and are listened to, which makes a big difference to me. Being a coach is one of the most rewarding jobs I have ever had, I hope that when my players are older they can look back on their time at Rainhill United with fond memories.
Ryan – Volunteer Coach
I have been a manager of a team at Rainhill Utd for about 9 years. I can happily say the club put the well-being of the players and coaches at the heart of what we do. If there are any issues, they are at hand to support us, the children, and parents. As a coach, we do it voluntarily, and most parents and children appreciate that. We do our best and are guided by the club through meetings, formal coaching, safeguarding, first aid training, and other forms of support. The work the committee do behind the scenes helps make what we do as managers and coaches much easier and much more supported than many other clubs. The children are at the heart of what we do, and I know we’ve supported many children through to becoming better players, but perhaps more importantly, helping them develop confidence and life skills to help them beyond football.
Chris – Volunteer Coach
Three years ago, when the girls were about to start the season as under-11s, the manager at the time had to stand down for personal reasons. We were faced with the possibility that the team would fold if nobody was prepared to step up and take the role on. After much deliberation, I decided to give it a go. At first, I felt completely out of my depth…sorting weekly training drills, organising funds for a new kit, doing coaching qualifications and first aid courses. There was so much to think about.
However, the club committee were brilliant and so supportive. Answering all my (many) questions and helping me out with advice and expertise. I soon found my feet.
A few of the parents also agreed to step up as assistant coaches to help when I wasn’t available, and also offer advice and opinions on how best to develop the team.
Now, as we get ready to move to under-14s and full 11-a-side football, it all feels much easier, and I get as much out of the role as I think the girls do playing the game. The parents are amazing and have a big role to play in helping the girls to enjoy playing and training, even in the cold, wet winter months.
I’ve recently stepped up into the role as Head of Girls’ football at the club, as I’m passionate about giving girls the same opportunities to play as the boys have always had. Rainhill United is a fantastic grassroots club with a deep connection to the local community and beyond. As it approaches 50 years in existence, with the commitment and dedication of the players, parents, coaches and club officials, there is no reason to doubt that the club can’t continue to go from strength to strength over the next 50 years too.
Ste, Volunteer Coach & Head of Girls’ Football
When I first took my lad, Elliott, to Rainhill Academy and then onto Rainhill Utd JFC, I never thought I’d volunteer to coach; in fact, it never crossed my mind. But since day one, it’s been one of the best decisions I could have made. Watching the boys develop into a team over the last 2 years has been a joy to watch. With the continued support of the fantastic parents and the club, I’m looking forward to seeing the future success that our Rangers team brings on and off the pitch.
Darren – Volunteer Coach
As both a coach and parent of the Crusaders team, I can honestly say, being part of RUJFC has been and is one of the most rewarding, exciting, and enjoyable experiences. The club is excellently run and organised from top to bottom, with the best interests of the kids at the forefront always. We have a great group of kids, and our parents are exceptional and so supportive. As my son, Joe, says, “I wouldn’t want to play for any other club”.
