FAQ’S
Who runs the Wildcats ?
It is run by Rainhill United Junior Football Club, with coaching provided by Rainhill Football Academy.
Are the people running this DBS /child trained registered ?
Yes, absolutely, 100%
What can my child expect ?
To have fun! The whole objective is to introduce the girls to a fun, engaging environment whilst learning to play football and developing their skills.
How do I book a session ?
Easy, just click on the link https://book.englandfootball.com/Wildcats/rainhillunited0/Summary/65b67361-0b90-4106-8db8-4f658b360303
How much does a session cost ?
£5 per session
What if my child wants to stop playing half way through the session ?
These things happen. The child would let us know and we would bring her to you as you watch from outside the pitches.
What if my child is slower than everyone else will they be left out ?
Absolutely not! Everyone develops at different times, the girl who is developing slowest this year may well be the best player on the pitch by the time she is in a team.
How long will the sessions run for on the day ?
They are one hour slots – try to get there a few minutes before the start time please, we like to start on time as we cannot go past our allotted time on the pitch as others are booked in after us.
What will happen in the sessions ?
Individual ball control practise, fun, football orientated games, some fitness work, lots of running around and having fun!
What if my child is injured or has an accident how is this dealt with ?
We have first aid trained people available on site. They will deal with the situation as per their training, but invariably you will be called to join your child on the pitch whilst an assessment is made and dealt with appropriately.
Will there be drinks and snacks provided ?
No, that one is down to you! Please ensure your child ALWAYS brings a drink.
Am I allowed to stay for the session ?
Yes, of course! You can watch the session through the fence. Parents are not allowed onto the pitches unless requested to by a coach.
What if I cannot make a booked session will I lose the money ?
Unfortunately yes
If I am running late with my child will they still be allowed to take part ?
Yes, but please try and make sure you arrive prior to the session starting. Latecomers affect the group as the coach may have to stop the session to accommodate them into a group drill as an example.
What should my child wear ?
Appropriate clothing is generally a football kit and trainers/astro boots. A waterproof jacket is a big recommendation; we are in the North-West of England after all. They don’t need any particular kit, a t-shirt and shorts/tracksuit is more than adequate for their first few sessions. The real MUST though, is Shin Pads – there are a necessity from day one please. Without them, they won’t be allowed to play.
What if it rains will the training session continue ?
Hey, it’s Rainhill – of course we carry on, we’re used to the rain. If weather becomes too inclement, the coach may make a decision to take the children inside for a short period, or in extreme circumstances, they may have to stop the session early.
My child has a disability is there any support for this ?
This is something we are happy to discuss with you. You know your child better than anyone, and you know their limits and abilities. Should we decide together that these sessions may not be the best for your child, we are planning on a new disability session commencing in September 2025. We don’t have specifics on these sessions yet, but keep an eye on our socials!
Where is the training held and is there parking ?
The MUGA (4g astro pitches) at the rear of the main building at Rainhill High School, Warrington Road, Rainhill. L35 6NY. There is free parking available on site.
